Hotel New Otani Makuhari in Chiba is introducing the upgraded summer version of its popular “Okonomi Don Gozen ~Kiwami~” donburi set from July 16 to August 31, 2026. Guests can create their own special meal by choosing two rice bowls from a selection of 10 varieties, including three new stamina-boosting summer bowls.

This seasonal menu is perfect for a satisfying lunch during the hot summer months. From July 16, diners can enjoy dishes like the beef tongue with grated yam donburi, Japanese-style curry with summer vegetables, and an eel and grated yam bowl timed for the “Doyo no Ushi no Hi” (Midsummer Day of the Ox). Starting August 9, the lineup expands to 11 bowls with the addition of Taiwanese-style lu rou fan, ideal for families visiting during summer vacation.

The “Okonomi Don Gozen ~Kiwami~” allows guests to select two mini rice bowls from a diverse menu to create a personalized set meal. The new summer edition features hearty and colorful options designed to boost stamina, including a special eel bowl for the traditional midsummer day. The set also includes expertly prepared side dishes such as grilled black cod, freshly fried tempura, and smooth steamed egg custard, all crafted by Chef Kenichi Hiruma, head of Japanese cuisine at the hotel.
