About the “A Palette of Tea” Event
“A Palette of Tea” is a collaboration between POUYUENJI KYOTO, a lifestyle brand curating teas from around the world, and SHOBIEN, a Kyoto dye studio preserving the traditional “batik” (rouketsuzome) technique since 1963. The event reimagines tea drinking as an immersive spatial experience, where the colors and textures of the batik art harmonize with the aroma, taste, and feel of tea.
The venue is decorated with batik-dyed noren curtains, furoshiki wrapping cloths, tapestries, and three-dimensional pieces. Alongside the exhibition, visitors can enjoy a limited menu featuring two types of tea with different water colors and brewing methods, paired with seasonal sweets from Narumi Mochi, a Kyoto confectioner with a 150-year history closely connected to SHOBIEN. The tea and sweets set is priced at ¥4,000 (tax included).
