QRAUD is bringing its Kani Jennu live crab restaurant brand to Kyoto for the first time with Kani Jennu Gion, opening in the Gion area on October 16, 2026. The restaurant will serve full courses built around live crab prepared by chefs in front of guests.

The restaurant is located in Gion, close to Yasaka Shrine and Hanamikoji Street. Its autumn course starts at ¥38,000 per person (tax included) before the Kyoto Prefecture snow crab season opens in November. A winter course featuring regional branded crabs will start after the season opens at ¥60,000 per person (tax included); a 10% service charge applies to both courses.

The October menu combines live snow crab, live king crab, and matsutake mushrooms. Dishes may include crab sashimi, charcoal-grilled crab, crab shabu-shabu, crab croquettes, crab miso rice, crab and roe rice bowls, and crab rice porridge. After the November opening of the fishing season, the lineup is expected to include Kyoto’s Taiza Crab, Fukui’s Echizen Crab, and female snow crab known as seko crab.
