Udon Turned into Donuts? Marugame Seimen Releases Handmade “Marugame Udonuts” on June 25th with Hana Haruna’s Special Movie

Marugame Seimen is challenging new products with the introduction of udon donuts, called “Marugame Udonuts.” These will be available nationwide starting June 25, 2024. This new product features a chewy texture using udon dough. These donuts utilize the chewy quality of udon and were created after about three years of trials.

The Surprising Udon Donut “Marugame Udonuts”

“Marugame Udonuts” are made using the chewy texture that Marugame Seimen’s udon is known for. During test sales, lines formed before opening, and 100 bags sold out in just 30 minutes, making it a popular item.

“Marugame Udonuts” are handmade in the store, with the udon being mixed into a paste using a mixer, and white dashi added to the dough for flavor. This handmade touch adds a warm feeling to the product.

There are two flavors of “Marugame Udonuts”: “Kibi Sugar Flavor,” which has a simple sweetness, and “Addictive Curry Flavor,” which is spicy. The Kibi Sugar Flavor features the mellow sweetness of cane sugar and is recommended for a relaxing moment. The Addictive Curry Flavor is an item that combines multiple spices with the umami of fried onions and garlic.

Special Web Movie Starring Hana Haruna

Ahead of the launch of “Marugame Udonuts,” a special web movie series titled “#What’sUpHanaHaruna!” featuring actress Hana Haruna has been released on June 21. This series, consisting of six episodes, showcases Haruna’s expressive reactions while eating “Marugame Udonuts.” The first episode, “What If There Was No Chewiness…,” depicts Haruna tearfully imagining a world without chewiness.

Episodes 4 “Can’t Stop the Curry Flavor Shock” and 5 “Desperate! Curry Loss!” depict her being captivated by the curry flavor. In episode 6 “Angry When One Chewy is Taken,” Haruna comically gets angry when someone eats her “Marugame Udonut.
