From July 7 to August 24, 2026, the popular sushi chains Nigiri no Tokubei and Kaisen Atom are hosting a limited-time summer sushi festival featuring fresh seasonal aji (Japanese horse mackerel) from Nagasaki and large-cut eel from Mikawa Isshiki. This event offers sushi lovers a chance to enjoy a variety of 23 specially curated dishes perfect for the summer season.
Visitors to Japan during the summer can savor high-quality, locally sourced seafood known for its rich flavor and freshness. The festival highlights premium ingredients like the fatty and flavorful aji caught in the nutrient-rich waters near Tsushima Strait and the Goto Islands, as well as large, tender female eel from Mikawa Isshiki. Alongside sushi, refreshing side dishes such as chilled clam soba and cold chawanmushi with Yamagata-style dashi provide a cool and satisfying meal experience during Japan’s hot summer months.
