FamilyMart is releasing its new Premium Mocha coffee nationwide starting July 14, 2026. This special coffee was developed in collaboration with Tetsu Kasuya, the World No.1 barista, and features rare Ethiopian Mocha beans.
Using 100% Grade 1 Mocha beans from Ethiopia’s Yirgacheffe region, this coffee offers a unique fruity aroma and bright acidity that stands out from typical convenience store coffee options in Japan.
About the Premium Mocha Coffee
The Premium Mocha and its iced version represent the pinnacle of convenience store coffee, crafted after nearly two years of development. The beans used are from the highest grade G1 Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Mocha, which accounts for less than 1% of Ethiopia’s coffee harvest. To maximize the beans’ aroma and flavor, a high-temperature, short-time roasting method is used. The extraction recipe was refined to use about 1.3 times more beans and a longer bloom time than usual. This meticulous process, combined with Kasuya’s brewing theory and a newly developed coffee machine introduced in June 2026, delivers specialty coffee quality at FamilyMart locations nationwide.
