Located inside the Daimaru Shinsaibashi store, Quolofune’s “QUOLOFUNE LAB.” serves as an experimental space where traditional Japanese confectionery meets modern creativity. This summer, the highlight is the “ICE LAB” shaved ice, which comes with three special syrups presented in test tubes: strawberry from Nara’s Koto-ka variety, Uji matcha, and condensed milk. Guests can pour the syrups themselves, enjoying the changing flavors and textures.
Alongside the shaved ice, Quolofune offers the Castella Q Shake, a drink made from their signature castella cake eggs, fresh milk, domestic eggs, and fragrant vanilla beans. This “drinkable castella” delivers a rich yet smooth taste that is freshly made and satisfying.
Another popular choice is the mixed juice, inspired by nostalgic Osaka retro cafes. It blends Hokkaido milk with domestic mandarin oranges, yellow peaches, and bananas, accented by the eggs used in Quolofune’s castella. The result is a creamy, mellow drink perfect for a refreshing break.
