Starbucks Opens Seasonal Cafe in Historic Yokohama Umi-no-Koen Park Building

Starbucks has introduced a new seasonal cafe at Yokohama’s Umi-no-Koen Park, featuring a historic Western-style building overlooking the sea.

This unique location in Kanazawa Ward preserves a registered tangible cultural property, offering visitors a special experience that combines history, nature, and coffee culture.

The new store features 26 seats and operates from 8:00 to 21:00 during May to October, and 8:00 to 19:00 from November to April, inviting guests to enjoy coffee in a relaxing seaside atmosphere.

About Starbucks Yokohama Umi-no-Koen Park Store

The cafe occupies the former Nagahama Quarantine Station No. 1, a building constructed in 1895 and relocated to Umi-no-Koen Park in 2025. It retains architectural elements from the Taisho era, including green wainscoting and blue flooring, along with original wallpaper. Inside, design motifs inspired by sailing ropes and canvas blend with artworks themed on Seattle’s coffee culture and Yokohama’s maritime history. A large community table and bentwood chairs recreate the atmosphere of the building’s past use as a dining hall, creating a unique blend of historical charm and modern cafe comfort. The seating area offers views of the park’s natural scenery and the sea, making it a distinctive place to relax.
