The lineup highlights unique tastes like apple candy, grilled corn butter, brown sugar sata andagi, and olive salt, reflecting regional favorites chosen by customer votes.
The limited edition baumkuchen include “Irregular Apple Candy-Style Baum,” “Irregular Grilled Corn Butter-Style Baum,” “Irregular Brown Sugar Sata Andagi-Style Baum,” and “Irregular Olive Salt Baum,” priced at ¥390 each and sold at MUJI stores nationwide and online starting August 26, 2026, with some stores offering early sales from August 21.
About MUJI’s Collaborative Baumkuchen Project
This collection was developed from ideas submitted by customers and MUJI store staff during a campaign held in July and August 2025. Over 2,500 ideas were received, and after narrowing down to 13 candidates, customers voted more than 51,000 times to select their favorites. The four baumkuchen represent top picks from eastern and western Japan regions, capturing local flavors in a unique cake form.
The “Apple Candy-Style Baum” features large pearl sugar to mimic the crisp texture of candied apples and a refreshing sweet and sour apple flavor. The “Grilled Corn Butter-Style Baum” incorporates 100% corn powder and butter with a soy sauce-flavored jelly topping, delivering a savory-sweet balance. The “Brown Sugar Sata Andagi-Style Baum” is twice-baked for a crispy texture, with brown sugar syrup mixed into the batter and crushed karinto toppings for rich flavor. The “Olive Salt Baum” uses selected olive oil and mild rock salt in the dough, finished with a lightly sweet icing; it is recommended toasted with black pepper for extra flavor.
