Starbucks Opens New Cafe in Historic Yokohama Seaside Park Building

Starbucks Coffee Japan has opened a new cafe inside a historic Western-style building overlooking the sea in Yokohama. The “Starbucks Coffee Yokohama Seaside Park” store began welcoming guests on August 10, 2026.

This is the first Starbucks located within a park in Yokohama city and is housed in the nationally registered tangible cultural property known as the Former Nagahama Quarantine Station No.1 Waiting Room. It offers visitors a special experience combining the charm of a historic building with peaceful seaside views.

About the Starbucks Yokohama Seaside Park Store

The cafe is situated in Kanazawa Ward’s Seaside Park, inside a building constructed in 1895 as part of Japan’s early quarantine facilities. After damage from the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake, it was restored and relocated to the park in 2025. The store preserves the building’s historical features, including original wallpaper and period colors, creating a unique atmosphere that blends history with modern cafe comfort.

Inside, visitors pass through a “History and Charm Enhancement Space” that introduces the building and local heritage before entering the cafe. Nautical design elements like ropes and canvas, along with art depicting Seattle’s port—Starbucks’ birthplace—connect the local history of Yokohama as a port city with the coffee culture of Seattle.
