Hakkenden has launched a new sesame-focused menu across Japan, available from October 6, 2026. The izakaya chain is working with Kyoto sesame specialist Yamada Seiyu on a lineup of 11 dishes.

Salt-koji-marinated domestic chicken liver is paired with sesame oil, white ground sesame, shiso, and green onion. The dish is ¥649 (tax included).
Sesame Potato Fries
Freshly fried potatoes are tossed with aromatic sesame oil and ground sesame for a savory izakaya snack. The price is ¥539 (tax included).
Endless Sesame Cabbage
Crisp cabbage is served with sesame oil, white ground sesame, and a rich sesame dipping sauce made with sesame paste. The dish is ¥473 (tax included).
Sesame Tofu
Cold tofu is topped with a rich sesame sauce made from sesame paste, balanced by a light acidity. It costs ¥330 (tax included).
Sesame Egg Rice
This sesame egg rice combines rice, a soft egg, sesame oil, white ground sesame, shiso, and soy sauce. It is priced at ¥440 (tax included).
Roasted Sesame Kara Hot Pot
The spicy chicken hot pot includes chicken thigh, chicken meatballs, vegetables, sesame paste, and white ground sesame. The price is ¥1,199 (tax included).
Sesame Vanilla Ice Cream
The fair offers Fragrant Sesame Vanilla with sesame oil and white ground sesame, plus Rich Sesame Vanilla made with sesame paste and ground sesame. Each flavor is ¥198 (tax included).
The menu uses Yamada Seiyu’s first-press sesame oil, stone-ground sesame, and stone-ground sesame paste. The Kyoto maker carefully roasts and presses its sesame to preserve its aroma, sweetness, and rich texture, adding depth to Hakkenden’s familiar izakaya dishes.
