A large touch display called “Degi-Ro” will be introduced at Akindo Sushiro’s conveyor belt sushi restaurants. The goal is to enhance the fun of conveyor belt sushi by installing a large screen. Starting in July 2024, it will be available in four stores in Shizuoka, Tochigi, Fukuoka, and Gunma.
Degi of “Degi-Ro” is Digital + Sushiro. “Degi” is an abbreviation of the Japanese pronunciation of “digital”.
Sushiro Doubles the Fun of Conveyor Belt Sushi with the Latest Technology

The feature of “Degi-Ro” is that you can enjoy the flowing sushi on a large touch display. It’s like a large-screen version of the order tablet, and multiple people can operate it simultaneously. There are some concerns about what happens when multiple people touch it at the same time, but it’s great that everyone can watch and operate it together.

It also includes information about the sushi, quizzes, and games that can be enjoyed based on the order amount (perhaps a countermeasure against Kura Sushi’s Bikkura Pon?), enhancing the dining experience at Sushiro.

The following stores will introduce “Degi-Ro”. Each store will have a renewal opening.

The display is so large that you can’t see the other side. A new ordering method called “Sushi Navi” has also been introduced, which includes a feature to narrow down items by hashtag. So you can just type “#tuna” or “#egg”. It’s intriguing. It’s safe to say the search function is well-equipped.

“Degi-Ro” also includes trivia and quizzes to liven up conversations, as well as entertainment elements such as the “Dakko Sushi Game,” which starts based on the order amount. There are particularly many features geared towards children.
One concern is why it’s called “Degi-Ro” in this day and age. Combining digital and Sushiro is good, but in a world where digital is a given, why “Degi-Ro” now? Children might wonder what “Degi” means. Maybe “Deka-Ro” (Big Ro) would have been better since it’s bigger than before. However, big is relative, so if it gets even bigger, it might have to be called “Deka-Ro 2.
