KURAND Launches Rare Okinawan Island Banana Liqueur with Free Samples

KURAND, an online liquor store, is now offering free samples of the rare Okinawan Island Banana liqueur “Hajimemashite no Shimabanana” from July 14 to August 11, 2026.

This limited-edition liqueur is made from the elusive island banana, a fruit rarely found outside Okinawa and the Amami Islands. The offer is expected to be popular, especially on weekends, so visitors should act quickly.

About the Okinawan Island Banana Liqueur

“Hajimemashite no Shimabanana” is a unique banana liqueur crafted using the rare island banana, which is seldom distributed beyond Okinawa and the Amami region. KURAND partnered with the Island Banana Association to source fruit directly from local farmers, enabling limited production without relying on regular distribution channels.

The island banana differs from common varieties by offering a refreshing acidity and rich flavor reminiscent of apples and muscat grapes. Grown in Okinawa’s subtropical climate with mineral-rich soil derived from coral reefs, the fruit’s distinctive taste is preserved in this liqueur.

The liqueur features diced banana pieces to retain the fruit’s texture and flavor, carefully bottled under strict temperature control to maintain its fresh, chewy character. It can be enjoyed on the rocks, mixed with milk, or poured over ice cream.
