Moranbong Co., Ltd., based in Fuchu City, Tokyo, is launching a new line of authentic Korean-style kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) soups. The company will renew two existing products on July 15, 2026, and introduce a new ultra-aged fermented kimchi jjigae soup on August 10, 2026.
With growing interest in Korean cuisine among visitors and residents in Japan, especially after record numbers of Japanese tourists visiting Korea in 2025, Moranbong aims to bring the rich flavors of traditional Korean home cooking to Japanese dining tables. Kimchi jjigae is a beloved Korean stew known for its deep umami and sourness from well-fermented kimchi, a staple in Korean households.
About the Kimchi Jjigae Soups

The new ultra-aged fermented kimchi jjigae soup captures the authentic taste of Korea with its distinctive sourness and spiciness derived from fermented ingredients. It features a generous amount of Korean kimchi paste, aged gochujang (red chili paste), fermented chili peppers, and vegetable fermentation extracts made from lactic acid-fermented napa cabbage. This combination offers a refreshing acidity and sharp spiciness reminiscent of traditional Korean stews.

The renewed “Rich Aged Kimchi Jjigae Soup” enhances the depth of flavor by increasing the amount of Korean kimchi paste, aged gochujang, and miso, while adjusting the spiciness with more green chili peppers for a lingering heat. The “Rich Aged Kimchi Jjigae Soup Mild” version boosts satisfaction with added garlic and aged gochujang, plus vegetable fermentation extracts to add a mellow sourness and umami, making it suitable for all ages.
